Project:  Website/E-commerce Design for Clothing Start-up

Eka was a start-up company with limited funding, for which I designed apparel and digital and print marketing materials.  I really enjoyed it as much as designing the clothing — if not more.  I loved playing with animations like a falling lotus into a daisy or a falling leaf revealing a “shop now” button.

Project:  Wireframing in XD

I am currently taking an advanced course in Figma, but I am familiar with XD.  You can preview my wireframe here

Case Study:  Small Town Government Website Refresh

Waverly is a rural town of 5,000 people.  While residents value their high school band and football team, the town website was widely disliked—even by the Mayor, its designer and manager.

The site’s poor design frustrated local businesses and even allegedly discouraged retirees from moving to town.

LINQ, the company behind the website, mainly builds school sites and wasn’t a good fit. The City Hall administrator struggled with the system, but decision-makers stuck with LINQ, so I updated the site as best I could.

My goal was to showcase Waverly’s beauty and improve usability, so I borrowed the best ideas from top small-town government websites.

Even after a redesign, the site was hard to manage. When LINQ’s contract ended, the new administration kept my initial art direction, refreshed the City Seal, and added more orange, the high school’s color. Now the website looks even better!

Case Study:  Boomer Copywriter Website and Blog

My client was a copywriter who focused on her own demographic. She named her company “Out of the Box Copy,” so I made sure her logo and website matched that idea.  Because her audience is mostly baby boomers, I used 1950s Atomic Design for inspiration, which she really liked.

I built her website with WordPress. Most of her clients used desktop computers at the time, but I picked a responsive template.
